Valerie-Marie Kumer successfully defended her thesis on September 13th at the Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen. The title of her thesis was "The Potential of LiDAR Measurements for the Characterization of Wind Turbine Wakes". Her opponents were Associate Professor Julie Lundquist, University of Colorado, USA, and Associate Professor Sandrine Aubrun, Université d'Orléans, France. Kumer's supervisor during the PhD has been Professor Joachim Reuder, University of Bergen. Birgitte R. Furevik, Norwegian Meteorlogical Institute, was co-supervisor.
At her trial lecture on the 26th of August, Valerie-Marie was given the topic "Offshore Wind Energy - Potential, Challenges and Limitations". Her trial lecture can be viewed here.
