Workshop on O&M October 29. at Aalborg University completed.
The agenda for the workshop was as follows:
Within the NORCOWE and other research centres a number of PhD projects and other studies are being performed related to optimal planning of Operation & Maintenance. The aim of the workshop was to present and discuss numerical tools for reducing O&M costs. Particular emphasis was on the following topics being critical for offshore wind farms:
- Identification of critical issues for Operation & Maintenance for offshore wind turbines
- Models and tools for preforming corrective and predictive maintenance, including models of component degradation
- Establishment of a database with operational and failure data for validation of tools
- Definition for reference cases for comparison of different tools / methods"
After an introduction by John Dalsgaard Sørensen the participants presented their ongoing work related to O&M:
Mihai Florian: Maintenance approaches, focusing on Risk based reliability.
Masoud Asgarpour: O&M Planning of Offshore Wind Farms w.r.t. System Effects.
Angus Graham: The NORCOWE Reference Wind Farm (NRWF), focusing on getting inputs to the preliminary baseline.
Jannie S. Nielsen: Risk-based decision-making.
Iver Bakken Sperstad: Different O&M models.
Surya Teja Kandukuri: Wind Farm Control, including O&M aspects.
Anh-Quang Mai: Structural Health Monitoring, Fracture Mechanics Model.
In addition to NORCOWE students and researchers, the external participants at the workshop contributed to a good starting point for discussions based on different perspectives on this topic. Two examples were the discussions on how different approaches could be compared, using one or more reference wind farm (incl. the NORCOWE wind farm), and how one could define a strategy for baseline maintenance.
Due to a lot of interest regarding this workshop, NORCOWE would like to host a new workshop on O&M in 2015. Next year's O&M Workshop will be announced through our newsletters, those interested are encouraged to sign up here for the NORCOWE news letter.
