PhD student Mostafa Bakhoday Paskyabi has been two months in Australia, visiting Alexander Babanin, Professor in Oceanography and Ocean Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology. Mostafa is a PhD student at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Bergen, working on experimental characterization of the turbulence structure in the oceanic mixed layer.
Mostafa has worked extensively on datasets from a moored platform (Moored Autonomous Turbulence System, MATS), custom built for NORCOWE. The data has been used to modify the General Ocean Turbulence Model by including wave forcing effects. The datasets used so far are from the coast of Norway and covers a period with substantial storms.
