The Gwind project, a floating gyrostabilized Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, was recently presented in the norwegian newspaper Aftenposten. A model of the Gwind turbine will be tested in the harbour of Stavanger this autumn. NORCOWE has been involved in this project, and you may read about it in the yearly reports of 2011 (page 18) and 2012 (page 38).
The project is managed by TTO office Prekubator, while CMR Prototech and the University of Stavanger are partners in executing the project. Professor Arnfinn Nergaard at the University of Stavanger is patent holder.
The picture below is from the testing a model hull equipped with two gyros mounted inside, to verify the damping effect of the gyros. The tests were carried out at Bergen University College (HiB).
