"NorWRF 2011" 5. september 2011 - 9. september 2011

The workshop will be from 5-9 September 2011 in Bergen, Norway.

For this year's workshop, we will have both oral and poster presentations. The workshop will be of limited size: around 30-40 participants, and the opportunity to interact, learn more and discuss possible collaboration work should be high. So, the sooner you confirm your presence, the better.

Some of the speakers this year are:

a) from NCAR: Cindy Bruyere, Dr. Jimy Dudhia, Dr. Greg Holland, Dr. Roy Rasmussen and Dr. Bill Skamarock - who will be giving lectures about the WRF model including a talk about the new model MPAS.

b) Dr. Kevin Hodges (University of Reading) will be talking about his storm tracking algorithm called TRACK.

c) Morgan Yarker (University of Iowa) will talk about her work studying the effect of a volcano eruption using the WRF model, as well as her work in science education on how to teach models.

d) We will also have a talk on monsoon dynamical response to latent heat from stratiform and convective precipitation by Dr. R. Krishnan from the Centre for Climate Change Research/Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in India.

The workshop website will be ready soon. Meanwhile, in case you are planning to attend NorWRF 2011, please, send us an e-mail as soon as possible so that we can make a reservation at the hotel for you and/or recommend a hotel in the city. If you would like to give a talk or present a poster, let us know the title of your presentation/poster so that we can include it in the program. Let us also know whether you will need an invitation letter for visa purposes."
